History

Ranthambore Forest, located in Rajasthan, India, is steeped in history and renowned for its breathtaking wilderness. It forms the core of Ranthambore National Park, which was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and later upgraded to a national park in 1980 as part of India’s ambitious Project Tiger.

Once the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur, Ranthambore Forest has transitioned into a conservation success story. Its rugged landscape, ancient ruins, and dense woodlands provide a natural haven for the majestic Bengal tiger, which thrives here alongside leopards, sloth bears, sambar deer, and over 300 species of birds.
